Homecoming Week
Written by Sophia Strickland
ThunderRidge Homecoming Week is a big deal to the whole school. We have Spirit Week, where the student government picks out themes to dress up for each day. Monday is Country Luau Day, Tuesday is Teachers vs. Students Day, Wednesday is Anything-but-Backpack Day, Thursday is Throwback to Elementary School Day, and on Friday you just wear your field day t-shirt! You can also get involved and help with events like Powderpuff, Manleading, and Ruff n’ Tuff. If you want to be more artistic, you can help with the banner, trashcans, and t-shirts. We talked to some of our Seniors about what their advice for homecoming would be.
Kaela Rylie and Kenoi Salvador said “You don’t need a date.” and “Don’t hype it up too much.”
So at Homecoming, all you really need is some good friends and a positive attitude!
Nadia said, “Be excited but don’t quit everything for it and don’t set your standards too high.” Lily Tenney said you should participate.

Remember to make sure you still go to all your after school commitments and get your homework in! Fatima Salaman, the community coordinator of student government, said to “remember to buy your wristband for the week. It’s way cheaper than having to pay for all the events, and make sure you get involved with whatever you can!” Make sure if you live near Shea Stadium to walk if possible because the parking lot will be full. You should also carpool if you can! Seminar teachers have 8 parking passes per class so if you’re carpooling a lot of people then you can ask your teacher for one.
