This year actors and especially actresses experienced a push towards equality in the world during the 2023 Oscars. This was an amazing year at the Oscars for everybody who went. Hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, the Oscars enjoyed performances from Lady Gaga and Rihanna, amazing acceptance awards from actors, actresses, and directors alike, and of course; jokes about last year's Oscars fiasco when Will Smith slapped Chris Rock.

This year provided a push towards equality worldwide for actors and actresses, especially when Michelle Yeoh won best actress of the year for her performance in:

Everything, Everywhere, All At Once. This award is such a big deal because Yeoh is now the first Asian American to win best actress in history! Yeoh’s movie scored a 94% on Rotten Tomatoes and many people believe that this movie is “genuinely near perfection in every way” as Patrick Jones said in his review of the movie.

The other major awards given that night were Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor/Actress. The Best Actor award was given to Brendan Fraser for his performance in The Whale and he proceeded to give an amazing metaphorical speech with many nautical references as a tie back to his movie. The Best Supporting Actor award was given to Ke Huy Quan for his performance in

Everything Everywhere All At Once and he gave one of the most heartfelt speeches of the night. Finally, Jamie Lee Curtis won the Best Supporting Actress award also for her performance in Everything Everywhere All At Once to which she gave a very light and happy speech. Overall, these actors and actresses deserved the titles they won and everyone was very happy to see them get their recognition, and after the amount of awards that were given for Everything, Everywhere All At Once it is not surprising that it won Best Movie of the Year.

Of course being the Oscars, the awards aren’t the only thing that matters. Other memorable parts of the night include Pedro Pascal and Elizabeth Olsen announcing the nominees and awards for Best Documentary Short Film and Best Animated Short Film. Another memorable moment was Cara Delevingne showing up in an Elie Saab designer dress and wowing the audience that night. But when Rhianna performed Lift Me Up from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever it left the audience speechless and will for sure be something that all viewers will remember for a long time. By far the 2023 Oscars was definitely an upgrade from last-years and

changed history allowing for more nominees to be recognized for their talent and skill in the film industry.
