Ukraine Vs. Russia
Ukraine Vs. Russia
Written by Josh Higgins
The conflict in Russia and Ukraine is at an all time high right now, with Putin invading the country and no outside military personnel is coming to help yet; all hope seems to be lost for the country. They are being supplied with weapons and supplies though. All the Ukrainian soldiers are outnumbered tremendously and Russia has more tanks, plants etc… but the one thing Russia doesn’t have is a home field advantage. Russia are the attackers which means they don’t know their attacking terrain as well even with scouts and gps. Regardless, it’s still a grim and scary situation for Ukrainians and this article will outline all the information that’s released so far.
Military estimates that Russia has over 100k troops currently in Ukraine and are expected to send in even more by the day, which outnumbers the Ukraine's army 3-1. The city of Kyiv, which is Russia’s main target, is still upheld by Ukrainian forces but is still under bombardment by Putin’s forces. Citizens are still urged to evacuate or take shelter with constant bombardments hitting them.
With everything changing constantly, and new information coming out every day, people like us can feel powerless when it comes to helping Ukraine. But there is still something you can do. You can donate to companies funding the military or who are going to help rescue refugees, or you can sign up to help refugees coming to America or other countries helping them out.
The war in Ukraine is also affecting us here in America greatly. Gas prices have risen over 20 cents in the past week after the war has started and its heavily affected Americans. Another consequence of the war is that refugees have started to appear in numerous countries after fleeing Ukraine they need a place of refuge.
There is a lot of conflicting and misinformation coming out and it may be sometimes hard to know what is real and what isn’t. When I scroll through Instagram and Tik Tok, I see a ton of fabricated stories and misinformation. I like to turn on the news a few hours after events happen and see if I can confirm what I’ve seen, or if it’s a good idea to research the sites or look into them to see if they’re creditable. Misinformation is a huge thing that can really mislead people, if you're not careful about what you believe.
The Ukraine vs. Russia war is a crazy and scary event where we don’t know what’s going to happen next. If this keeps up, it could turn into World War III possibly if they attack any NATO countries. Hopefully, Ukraine can hold Russia off and this so-coming war won’t happen.
