Lineups for all the teams are set, so we're ready for game 1 of the season. Lots of players will show what they’re capable of and will prove themselves this season. We also interviewed Sophomore Ulysses Brown(10) on how unique this team is and his thoughts. He’s been playing since 3 years old and is one of the most talented players on Varsity. We asked him how he feels about this Basketball season: “I think we’ve got good players around us and we're gonna make a fun and great season out of it.” Team chemistry usually plays a role in how a team performs, so it is good to hear him talking about the other players on the team and praising their game. We also asked him if he thinks we can win our 3rd championship this year. “I think we can, but it's gonna be hard. We lost several seniors last year, but we have a lot of good juniors.” It’s gonna be difficult to reclaim the trophy for our 3rd straight year, but these players are confident that they can help the team win. We finally asked him what makes this ThunderRidge team so unique. “Since several seniors left last year that will give me and the freshman a chance to make varsity. Also getting to know each other is healthy for the team. “ This quote alone shows how selfless of a player Ulysses is. Not just him, but all the other players too.
Come support the Grizzlies throughout the winter season. It will be another fun season with different tournaments, new players, and playing games with our rivals. This team will try to get on a hot streak and play with lots of effort. Don’t miss their game on Thursday, December 1st against Rangeview. It will be a good one!
Get Ready for Basketball season Grizzlies. The 2022-2023 basketball team is getting ready for the season starting on December 1st. With 20 games in the season we’ll see what the Grizzlies are capable of this season. They are 2 time defending 5A champions. Last year was their best performance with a record of 26-2 with a Championship. Their 2020 season record was 13-2 with a shortened season due to Covid-19 and also won a championship then. After their heroic runs in the last 2 seasons, the new team is looking for that Threepeat. Though we do not have some of the talented seniors we had last year, this team is still looking incredible. Lots of new freshmen and players are here to help this team continue its winning record. If all the pieces can come together this year then we are in for a great season. We interviewed a couple Basketball players on their thoughts on this season.
With the new roster for ThunderRidge, lots of new faces are on new teams. We have lots of new freshmen, lots of new players varsity, and even new transfer students. On December 1st, this team will show us that these new guys can still help our team. We interviewed Freshman Drew Paine(9) on his first year playing ThunderRidge Basketball. “I’m excited because we have a lot of great players. Even though we don’t have a lot of seniors coming back we still have lots of talented players.” This quote alone can show that these players have faith and school pride and want to win badly. We also asked what got him into Basketball. “When I played it a long time ago, I thought it was really fun and I've loved it since.” Experience is a big factor to a team’s success in any sport. Lots of these athletes have played Basketball for a very long time, so hopefully all this experience can show during the season. We asked him if he thought we were gonna win our 3rd straight championship this year. “ I believe that we have the talent to win this year, but it’s all got to come together.”
