Self- portrait
-I traced over a picture of myself, taking note of the highlights, shadows and accents of my face.
Cleaned sketch of self- portrait
-I traced over my self- portrait and got a clean copy of my face.
Arranged portrait of face
-I cut out the features of my face, including the highlights, accents and shadows, combining them on a singular piece of cardboard before adding in the hair and other accessories.
Final piece
-I added in some hair with golden highlights and added some white parts for the highlights.
For the shirt, I took a red piece of cardboard and glued it to a plain piece of cardboard to accentuate the red parts.
Praise
I was very surprised that I was able to cut the cardboard relatively smoothly as I had expected that it would be a mess. Yet, I was pleasantly surprised when my artwork turned out better than I expected and I could actually see my features when my work was done.
Polish
I think one thing I need to work on is my patience in creating art and learning to trust the process. At the start when I was missing the key parts like hair and highlights, I did not believe that I could complete the work and was quite impatient when I did the work. Next time, I will remember that in the process of creating art, I need to be more patient.
