We outlined the different parts of our face today :D This is my first time trying out outlining, and I has some difficulties identifying the shadows and the bright areas.
Next, we traced the portrait onto a piece of white paper using carbon paper which was much easier.
We then traced the facial features onto the cardboard using carbon paper again. I found this easier compared to the previous tracing.
Today, we traced out the different parts of our faces onto different cardboards to show the shadows and the highlights and pasted the cut out pieces onto the face. This part was a little tricky as it was quite time consuming to me and I didn't manage to finish everything in class.
For this lesson, we finished up cutting out all of the pieces and pasted them onto the face. I ended up having to erase some shadows as too many shadows made the face very messy. We also drew glasses for those who have them.
I finished pasting the facial features in this lesson and added the hair backing too. Ms Ng also helped me to cut out my glasses :D
Next, I finished up the hair. Even though it did not turn out as good as I thought, I still feel that I like the texture of the hair that showcases the different strands of hair. I also pasted on my glasses.
We're almost there! Today, I did the clothing part of this project, and I think that it turned out pretty decent! However, I do think that it can be inproved by adding a little more details to the shirt, which I would do in the next lesson.
This is the finished product! I did some final touchups such as adding smalls details to the shirt like a pocket and a bee sticking out of it, which made the outfit design look less empty. I also assembled everything together by pasting velcro on my hair and on my face to make the project all come together.
I also pasted a backing for my work to allow it to stand up by itself.
This is another version of the finished product. Can you spot the difference? Well, I am glad that my friends thought of adding small bits of leftover velcro to my eyelids to make it look like lashes, now it looks so much more special! :DD

Overall, I think that I am satisfied with my final product. This is because I feel that certain parts of the project was well done and I did not expect them to turn out so well. For example, at first I had no idea what kind of shirt I should go for, but with some suggestions and assistance from my friends, I was able to end up with the shirt as shown in the finished look, which I am quite happy with. The layering of the face was a little challenging, but I am glad that I managed to overcome the challenge and end up with the finished look. I did this by removing some parts of the shadows to make it look less messy and neater. However, what's the most important is the fact that I put in much effort to finish this project on time, and I'm happy that my efforts did not go to waste and resulted to a satisfactory finished design! :D

Even though I'm quite proud of this end product, there are still areas for improvement. For example, I felt that the hair could be better by adding a little more volume to it to make it look more special. The face could be neater, because I had to erase some pencil lines when I decided to get rid of extra shadows, but the lines cannot be completely erased as you still can see them on the face. Another challenge was cutting out the cardboard. I had some difficulties cutting out the cardboard which was why some of the edges of the facial shadows has jagged edges, which can be made better with more practice. All in all, I feel that no work is good without any areas for improvement, since what is important is that effort is put in. If I were to do this project again, I'm sure that I would pay more attention to the parts that I did not so well this time and try to do better next time!
