MY SELF PORTRAIT
I was a little bit embarrassed of my own picture at first but got used to it and even let my friend draw on it. The first draft was just drawing out the lighter areas and areas with shadows. The outlining of the features and face part was quite easy but it was a bit difficult to identify what were parts of shadows at first but it turned out fine for the first draft. :D
Using the carbon paper to trace out my face was a very new experience, it made me realise how hard it is and how important it is for all lines to be connected. I look a lot more different than before now but I think i messed it up a little bit at the shoulders. The carbon paper was very satisfying though and was interesting to see all our end results.
After tracing out my face onto the cardbaord, I cut out my features and paste them according to my original draft. It was a bit confusing at first, considering how many different tiny parts there are but it was quite fun in the end and my friends even laughed along, helped me a little.
The shirt was quite an easy part of the process that was fun as well, my friend and I decided to exchange parts of our cardboard to make a "matching" shirt. All in all, it was done quite quickly but I personally liked the collar as I wanted to try a turtle neck style.
Making the hair was a new experience as I was able to make any type of hairstyles that I want and making the bits and pieces of hair were hard at first, but it became easier to join them all together on the base of the hair.
PRAISE- The final work turned out better than I expected and I liked how I managed to be creative and create a hairstyle of my own. I personally really liked the process of face assembly although it was quite tough at first due to tracing with carbon paper for the first time and finding it quite hard to align the facial features perfectly. Nonetheless, I managed to capture details of my face and areas of shadows in the picture. I was glad I did not give up and just tried to be creative when I made some mistakes from time to time, this made me realise that I was quite resilient in terms of art.
POLISH- If I could do the artwork again, I would definitely imrpove the alignment of my facial features as there were parts that were a bit odd-looking as the face did not match properly when pasting features on the base of the face. Furthermore, I felt that I could make the hair more creative and colourful based on my own imagination, I think that it would look very interesting! To add on, there could have been more contour to parts of the face that were ligther to add to the overall dimensions of the face.
