My Art Journey.
Just outlining and sketching...😉
This is the original picture I chose to start with. It is a selfie I chose because I looked decent in it. However, my lips look very dry and pale.
On the first day, I started outlining my features and shadows onto the picture directly because it was hard to estimate my head size underneath my hair as my hair was quite puffy. However, I am very satisfied with how it looks now.
On the second day, I begin using carbon paper to trace my features clearly on a plain white paper for easier reference. This was easier than the first step because it was just outlining but it was interesting as it was my first time using carbon paper during art.
The second, third and fourth lesson I spent tracing my face, features and highlights on my cardboard. There were many struggles in this process including cutting myself, having to constantly re-trace or recut out my features as I kept making mistakes or did not feel satisfied. This was an exhausting process and the most difficult among the whole project!
This is my completed face with the headband and Velcro on. I actually like it a lot because It look like me, and it has very glistering teeth and the highlights. All that hardwork over the course of 4 weeks was worth it.
On the fourth week, I started and finished on my first hair. I kept this one nice and simple. It is inspired by Dora and I added some hairpins, leaves and a yellow flower so it seems like Im exploring a jungle. I think it is really cute and funny but I prefer my other hair!
This is my first draft of T-shirt 1, I used tissue boxes with plant designs to create this t-shirt but it was too plain and boring and did not fit my hair style. Hence, I scratched the idea and started over.
I used cardboard, auburn and black paper to create this emo-goth look with funky fringe to imitate a rock-star look. At first, it was just the cardboard but it looked plain so I took the teachers advice and added differennt coloured fringe to make my hair pop. I think it looks really cool with my second outfit!
On the sixth lesson, I made an outfit to match my hairstyle. I added a jacket, an electric guitar, a black necklace and a rock-star hand symbol with black nail polish on the nails. However, there were minor imperfections here and there that affected the overall look, like the glue stains and small part on the electric guitar. Hence i made a new one.
This is the 'Japanese - Singaporean adventurer'! She left her family and her life almost 5 years ago where she promised to return with the answers as to who she is and what she will be. She is wearing a gold necklace made with a bags rope, wearing a green-white yukata made of tissue paper box, a parrot named 'Trollistigan' sits on her shoulder because she befriended it after saving it from a tiger. I added cardboard behind Trollistigan to make sure he isn't too flimsy. Her hair is disheveled with a chrysanthemum flower, small clips and leaves from 4 and a half years due to her endless searching in the jungles for eternal glory and happiness.
Overall, I am really happy with this outfit as it incorporates the Japanese yukata think it looks amazing.
This is the 'extremely-emo rock-star wannabe'! She is the guitarist and lead singer of a failed band with her stuffed toys and the 'Japanese-Singaporean Adventurer' who is her twin and ex-drummer of the band. She is a goth and dyed her hair in black and auburn streaks. She carries the electric guitar and never lets go of it. I also re-made the guitar to make it look more sleek and perfect, and added cardboard behind to make sure it isn't flimsy. She does the Rockstar symbol often and paints her nails black as she is said emo. She wears a black choker around her neck as she never found happiness after the 'Japanese-Singaporean adventurer' left.
Overall, I really think the extremely emo rock-star has a tragic yet beautiful outfit! I think she is really cool and i am proud of both of my artworks!
The story line is just a joke and for entertainment purposes, please give me a good grade 😭
One thing i like is the diversity and difference between both artworks and outfits. First, I like my face and I think its really nice because I was never good at art so I am really proud. Next, my first outfit of the Japanese-Singaporean Adventurer incorporates my love for animals and the colour yellow and the [astel scheme is really cute too. The next one on the extremely emo rock-star wannabe is special too because I love the colour red and think the hair is really special. In the end, I love both a lot.
One thing I can improve on is the I could have made one more outfit because I would have wanted to make a caveman or a entrepreneur and made a triplet. I could have also made more elements on the yukata and perfected small spots due to the glue spots. However, I really like both of it. What I learnt is that perseverance is key. I learnt how to develop and improve my artworks slowly but surely. I exercised creativity and bonded with my friends as I talked to them and also observed how others artworks looked. I really enjoy art lessons.
