I took a selfie of myself and based on the shadows and lighting, we highlighted and traced out the shadows. i outlined my cheeks so it can bring out a more lively feels and near my eyes too.
Next, we used a carbon paper to trace over. The process was abit difficult due to the fact that if i move the paper, the alignment will be very off. Lines were also not very accurate but after a few tries it would out,
Next, i had to cut out the main face so i can trace it on a cardboard afterwards.
I started tracing the facial features on the cardboard using the carbon paper. this process was not that difficult since my facial feautues and shape are not that complicated.
Afterwards, i drew out 1.5cm from the head to create the cardboard hair backing. The process was quite easy since the shape of it was not so complicated and i could easily paste it on. Next, i added different colours of paper to the facial features to further enhance them. for exmaple, the yellow paper for the light shadows and black paper for the eyebrows and pupils.
In addition, i created the hair with corrugated cardboard. i made a messy hairstyle so it looks abit more natural. The hair also finishes the entire face. I added a small piece of velcro behind the hair so i can switch hairstyles anytime i want to.
I used two different cardboard pictures for the shirt. this will give a more colourful feel and vibe to the entire art piece. The process was easy because the cardboard was soft and easy to cut
i trimmed the sides of the artwork a little so everything will look more smooth and fresh. Then i added back the hair to the artpiece and lastly, i removed excess cardboard pieces dangling there.
PRAISE- I feel that the end product was very nice and detailed. throughout the process, i was feeling abit down because it didnt seem so nice whille making it. However im very happy that i did not give up and persevered, allowing me to complete with a simple yet nice artwork. I feel that the hair was very nice and the mix of different posters too.
POLISH-i feel that one thing i can work on is the facial features. For example, working more on the eye shadow, making it pop out more. i couldve also used more cardboard shades for the chin area and cheeks. Overall, i am satisfied with the artwork though there are room for improvements!
