Contour Outline of my Photograph
We learnt how to trace the outline, contour and shadows of our faces. Although it was a bit challenging to locate the shadows at first, we still managed to try and find it and got a hang it after some tries.
Blueprint of my Portrait
We completed the blueprint of our contour drawing. It was quite confusing at first as we could'nt see what we drew immediately after we traced on the original contour outline and how it appears on the drawing block behind the carbon paper.
Traced Facial Features- Faciography
We traced our facial features onto cardboards of different colours today. There are different coloured cardboards as the darker colours are used as shadows while lighter colours are used for highlights.
This lesson, we cut out the parts from cardboards and glued them together onto the main face piece. I felt that the layers for my cheecks and chin was a bit underwhelming so I added more highlights using the lighter colours.
My shirt is made of a McDonald's cup with the "M" on it and also some parts of a cardboard of Meji plain crackers. I cut the cup into halves so that it would look like a heart in the middle. I also cut out some letters from the crackers cardboard to add more elements and make the shirt look nicer.
The front of my hair looks like my actual hair, as it is a bit messy with a bit of fringe at the side
I made a pony tail. This is my usual hair style. It also have a small ribbon.
For the variation, I made a braid. I rarely braid my hair so I wanted to see how my hair would look like with it. It also looks more girly
This is a sleeveless top with some patterns that looks like fish scales. However, I feel that this looks a bit too plain
I made a necklace to pair with the second design of my shirt, as I think the shirt is too dull and needed some more colour
This is the final design of my shirt of design 1. I paired it with the braid
This is another design of my shirt number 2. I paired it with the pony tail in this picture but I think it matched the braid better
Praise: I like how I did my first shirt, as I feel like its very unique, with my favorite fast food brand which is McDonald’s. Through the process of making the portrait relief, it allows me to unleash my creativity by designing the shirt and hair from scratch. Although I met some obstacles such as not knowing how to do my hair at first, I explore ways to make it look neater and nicer. I learnt how to be more patient as I need to cut out every single strand of hair one by one, and also the "scales" for my second shirt, which is very time consuming and tedious. I also accept the suggestions from my friends when I showed them my work, and understand how to better improve them.
Polish: I still feel that I chose a wrong colour for the second design of my shirt. It would be nicer if I use some brighter colours, and grey and black colour might be a bit too simple and dull. I also think that I should have checked which side I use for each cardboard, as the skin tone of the face and my neck does not match.
