Today, we learn how to contour our faces. We traced out parts of our faces like our eyes, mouth and nose. We also learnt how to identify and trace the shadow of our faces (different shades of grey can be layered when making the cardboard.)
Today, we learn how to use carbon paper to trace out our drawings onto the drawing block. I was excited and nervous as I did not know how it will turn out.
Today, I used carbon paper to trace my face as well as my facial features.
Today, I paste the facial features onto the outline of the face. The difference in colour enhanced the artwork and added layers to the work.
Today, we learnt how to do the hairpiece. We had to experiment with which hair suited us better.
This is my final hair piece. I learned that as my hair was in a too orderly manner, it looked a bit strange. As such, I sticked a few strands of hair in a messier manner so that it will not look so neat.
I LOVE BAND!! My inspiration came from the attire I wore for a Concert Band concert. To make my shirt, I used a black paper bag to make the base of the shirt and collar as well as a silver cardboard from a mooncake packaging to make the buttons. As you can see, the buttons are cut into rectangles.
I LOVE ICE CREAMM!! 🍦 I LOVE FOOD!!
Therefore, I decided to make a ice cream shirt using a yole ice cream bag. My inspiration came from digging the paper bags and carboards I have at home. I like this shirt a lot as I think the vibrant colours go well altogether. Furthermore, I made a ice cream brooch where by I used cardboard to raise the ice cream instead of sticking it on the shirt directly to add a bit of volume. (you can see the shadow on the first photo)
Praise: I am pretty happy with how my artwork turned out. For the black colour shirt, I really like the minor details like the rectangle buttons. I think despite the shirt being very simple, it took me two weeks to come up with this final design as I wanted something more minimalistic, contrasting with my ice cream shirt which is more loud and colourful. For the ice cream shirt, I really liked the concept of making an ice cream shirt. I also really like the ice cream brooch on my shirt as I think that is what makes my shirt unique.
Polish: I think my hair piece could be done a lot better. I struggled on it as I have a high forehead and I do not look good in bangs HAHA. So, in the end, I decided to make a simple hair piece. As for my shirt, maybe I could have made the ice cream shirt more interactive since it is already so loud and cheerful.
Through this artwork, I have learnt to think out of the box to find for more ideas and inspiration. I also learnt that I have perseverance too. When I was making the artwork, I faced a lot of challenges like finding inspirations for the clothes and the hair.
Overall, I really liked my artwork and I hope you do too! 💖
