First actual lesson and first draft
Started on the contour drawing and outlined and drew features like ears, exterior face, nose , eyes , shoulders etc.
Looks a bit weird to me but it is fine. I think i can do
-Traced over using carbon paper and for now without fringe
-Traced the face over carbon paper on cardboard
- Cut the face parts out and assembled it to look like the original
- Used different colous of cardboard to highlight certain facial features and shadows like for example a lighter coloured cardboard for eyelids, eyeshadows etc.
Used wavy cardboard to make hair and hair backing
Cut out small and big strands of hair and gave a fringe to my face .
Tbh I did not know which haistyle to make so I was just experimenting with it
Was not really satisfied with it
For the shirt, I used a pineapple snack product box as it is vibrant of yellow colours and I actually wanted myself to be a pineapple seller for good luck
I used carbon paper to trace the outline of my shirt onto my pineapple snack product and cut it out.
I had also used parts of the box to be parts of the collar of the shirt as well
Tried to do a better version of the hair .
Did a wavy sort of hair
Used side fringes
I am quite satisfied with the second version oy my hairstyle as it is probably better than the first one
Added some white cardboard to eyes
Pasted shirt and added velcro to hair backing and the 2 hairstyles
Also did a stand behind the artwork for display
DONE !!
PRAISE
I think I did a decent job on my artwork as it is my first attempt. My face really looks similar to myself and i like the aesthetics and hairstyle on my artwork. I learnt patience and resillience as when cutting out the face, I accidentally made a mistake and cut through the cardboard face, so I had to redo everything . Luckily , I requested for a new cardboard and continued on despite the obstacle i just faced .
POLISH
I think that I defintely could have been neater when cutting out my face and shirt and hair. I would definitely try to be neater next time if I attempt this again. Also, I would use more varieties of cardboard for texture and colour to make my artwork even more unique. I would always try to constantly improve my artwork as time goes on . As for my feelings to my artwork, it honestly can be a source of motivation for myself as I look back to the original artwork and an alternate version of myself .
