My Self Portrait
Contouring outline the photograph, with all the shadows and reflections. Traced out the details of my face (like the glasses and the nose) It was decently fun, other than the fact that I gotta look at myself for 1.5 hours and I look like my sleep paralysis demon.
Transferred the contour outline onto a paper which is like a blueprint now. Imma use this for the future steps as reference. The fact that I still look like myself is actually shocking and I am proud of myself
Transferred the blue print onto cardboard and drew the highlights and the shadows. I never knew I could actually do this but look at me. I'm not looking forward to cutting it but that's alright because I wasn't looking forward to this either but look what I did :)
It's actually decently fun to do this and I hope pasting them won't be that hard
It is done. It actually wasn't that hard and it took me like what 1.5 hours. The eyes could use work but i think overall I did a pretty good job :) It was kinda fun and really nice to see myself come together. Talk about perfection? No this is not it. My eyebrows look deformed and there's still a lot of pencil marks but that's okay.
Notes to self: Make the eyes white... you know because they are white.
Finished the shirt design. It's a milk carton by the way. The centre can open up to show a white shirt.
It was fun, the best part is finding a design for your shirt, I chose the milk carton for no particular reason. I think that this is the kind of shirt I would wear irl.
Still have yet to make the collar open up and make the shirt have more volume.
😭Some say I look like Albert Einstein without the IQ. So funny bruh.
The hair has a lot of layers so it's got quite some volume to it, I googled for some hair designs and I don't know, maybe it might look bad but I'm actually proud of what I've done.
I look like the Rick from Rick and Morty.
That one was crazy this one is just emo. I made a new hairtstyle so I had to make a new backing and used velcro this time so I can just take it on and off without having to create another one. That made things easier.
See the velcro (SEE IT)
Added design to the shirt which gave it ✨depth✨. I took a while to decide what to put there but eh Taylor Swift works. Can't really change it anymore you know, because it's... glued on. Yea. It was kinda fun trying to brainstorm ideas and changing things around before settling on one design, maybe I might make more designs for the shirt so it can have variation. This is inspiring 🌟
I added some colour to the "1989" and it looks decently better. I think it looks quite good and I'm proud yes
Might make more edits next time but it works for now :)
I don't actually know what I added. It looks funny and kinda weird but it works for me and whatever works is whatever goes. :) Is it a necklace? Idk. It was really fun assembling this... thing and I tore a few papers and had a few drafts. Overally, it was really fun and relaxing (kind of) to let me create my own design of a necklace... thing. idk.
This was one of my failed attempts bc the rings were too small
Now it stands. Yea. It stands.
Final look: Emo Hair + Face + Whatever the something is + Shirt + 1989 + IT STANDS!
I thought that mine would look like it came directly from the dumpster and look like the most unasthetically pleasing thing I'll ever see and I came from the slums of Singapore living in locally unwanted land BUT I actually look half decent and I managed to make my shirt and hair have design and depth and not look boring. I managed to successfully give it depth and creative influence. I think when I imagined it, it felt less complex and more plain but I'm glad I managed to create such a piece of art and such a beautiful thing (kind of). I genuinely feel that it is so much better than what I expected and I'm proud of it :)
I wish I could've tried out more shirt designs and use different cardboard colours to design my own shirt and add my own ✨flair✨ to the work instead of it being somewhat conventional. Perhaps different kinds of shirts and not just a normal t-shirt, maybe I could've added a vest or an overlay jacket. I also wish I could've added more accessories (currently the only one is the necklace thing) maybe I could've added an actual necklace or choker. I think I limited myself when it came to the design because I was afraid I might not be able to do it or it might look weird, which kind of sucked because I regret not trying more.
