First took our picture and and traced lines and fine details to be able to work on our layering later on.
Traced our face and the details onto a piece of white paper (using carbon paper). This is to be able to trace it over carbon paper afterwards.
Traced the shoulders and the collar; finished tracing the self portrait
Traced the outer layer onto cardboard with our paper. This is the base of our layering.
Traced out and vaguely layered details of my face onto cardboard; this is so we can layer with the finer details after.
Layered the fine details with white cardboard (lighter). Layered in onto my cheeks and shadows around my nose.
Cut triangles out of wavy-ish cardboard to form our hair to paste onto our backing. Decided on a hairstyle instead of randomly sticking it .
Finished my hair in 1 art session; stuck many piece of the triangles and tried to overlap some for hairstyle.
Pasting pieces of cardboard from designed cardboards to form our shirt and overlapped some.
Finally finished the product; cut out brand names for the collars and made sure they had flaps and were not stuck on all the way.
Praise: I felt that I did decently considered my poor art skills. I was glad that despite not having much experience, I was able to finish the artwork. I think I did the finer details okay and the hair design was good. This is due to the fact that I had previously planned out the design of my hairstyle and managed to pull it off by overlapping a few triangular cardboards. Somehow, I managed to finished my work after staying back a while in the previous lessons and I was proud of myself for it.
Polish: Despite the fact that I felt I had done well at the beginning, I had to rush nearing the end. This is due to the fact that I regretfully was unable to attend a lesson; most of my friends' artwork progress skyrocketed during that session. Unlike most of my friends that finished the hairstyle over the span of two lessons, I had to plan quick and rush it. With the addition of the unfinished and not well done collar, I had to finish it even faster and barely managed to finish it as I'm typing this during the last lesson. I feel that I have a lot to improve on; not just time management, but the designs and details could have been done a lot better. I feel like this is because of my poor art skill in not being able to draw well; I had to have many trial and error attempts while doing the face and I still didn't manage to pull it off well. Thus, although I was happy to have had finished my work (looking okay), I felt that I have a lot more improvements to be made rather than being satisfied with my work.`
