MY SELF PORTRAIT
Today, we drew out outlined the different features and shadows on our face. Although it looks odd, it was interesting looking at my face in a different perspective.
Today, we traced the outline of our face onto a drawing board by placing a sheet of graphite beneath our original photo and tracing the outline over the graphite as that allows the graphite to imprint on the drawing board.
Today, we traced out our features on cardboard and I found it to be a fun experience as I managed to discover little details of my face that I never noticed.
I felt like assembling the face was the hardest as I had to figure out how to place my glasses and it was a bit tedious to cut out the glasses. However, the hair backing was rather simple and I managed to finish it quickly.
I was a bit confused when it came to the hair due to the fact that I had long hair when I took my photograph but I had cut my hair over the September holidays so when it came time to make my hair, I was in a dilemma on whether I should do long hair like in my photograph or short hair which was my current hair.
I was not very happy with how this looked at first but due to the lack of time, I had to move on and looking back at it, although I think I could have done better, I like it a lot more.
I was rather pleased with how my work turned out and I like how my shirt looks like it has different layers instead just being flat.
Praise- One area I think I did quite well in was cutting and assembling my features as I struggled quite a bit initially with handling the scissors and pasting the different pieces but once I got used to it, it was a smooth process and it was quite enjoyable to see my work come together as I place the different pieces to their corresponding position.
Polish- One area I think I can improve on is the hair as it turned out pretty choppy and not the way I envisioned it to be. Thinking back to it, I feel like I could have tried a bit more layering and I should have taken a photo of my current hair so that I can match them properly instead of trying to do it based off of my memory and how I think my hair looks like.
