SELF PORTRAIT
1.Contour Outline of my photograph
I found this first step a little difficult as it as hard to identify the shadows and highlights on the face.
2. Blueprint of my Contour Drawing
This step was easier than the first step as it was just tracing the outline of what I had drawn already. This was the first time I used carbon paper.
3. Traced Portrait Features - Faciography
I traced the facial features on the cardboard and also cut out some of them on a separate piece of cardboard.
4. Completed Face Assembling, Making Hairstyle
I finished cutting out the facial features (eyes, nose, lips, teeth, shadows and highlights), and gluing them onto the face.
5. Completed Shirt
I designed the first shirt with cardboard. The cardboard was roughly shaped like a collar, so I cut out that part and stuck other pieces together to form the shirt.
6. Completed Second Shirt
I designed the second shirt with leftovers from the cardboard used for the first shirt
7. Stick Velcro On Shirt and Body
Finally, I stuck the velcro on the body and on the backs of the two completed shirts so that the shirt can be placed on the body easily without falling off.
8. Stick Backing
Lastly, I cut out a long piece of cardboard and secured it to the back of the portrait with masking tape. This allows the artwork to stand by itself, supported by its backing, which serves as a stand.
Praise: At first, I thought that I would not be able to complete my project in time as I had missed a few lessons. I was also surprised when I saw that the project resembled me and I am quite happy with my work. I also learnt to be more patient as designing, styling and cutting took up a lot of time.
Polish: My hair design was too simple. Given the opportunity, I could have tried different textures by exploring using curling yellow coloured paper. I also faced difficulties when cutting out the spectacles as I had to cut out holes within the cardboard for the eyes. I may also want to not show my teeth when taking the picture as cutting them out was time-consuming.
