My Self Portrait
Contour outline of my photograph
During this lesson, we learn how to outline our face and draw shadows. Although it was hard to find where the shadows are and most of the shadows are small and hard to draw, it was a fun, funny and exciting experience. Also, I don't know why my collar is slanted and it look funny.
Blueprint of my portrait
During this lesson, we traced our contour outline of our portrait. When I traced the highlight of my nose, I accidentally traced it past my specs and I could not erased it so I just made it symmetrical on both sides. The carbon paper was a little messy but it was manageable. I felt fulfilling after I completed my work as it looks 90% like me.
Traced Portrait Feature - faciography
During this lesson, we traced our facial feaeture into three different cardboards, white, brown and the medium colour. The highlights were drawn on the white cardboard while the shadows are drawn on the, medium carboard. For the eyes, we had to draw three layers, the eye socket, eyeball, pupil. One of my pupil is rectangular though. This lesson was quite fun and messy as the blueprint paper was not cooperating with me and there were too many parts and ayers to draw.
Pasting fascial features (layering)
This lesson was cutting up facial features and pasting them which is the shadow, highlights and the original one. There were layers to the eyes, mouth and nose and they feel 3D after pasting them.
Making my shirt
This lesson was about making our clothes and I used biscuit box to make the overall shirt and used popmart bag to make the collar. There's a smiley face on my collar hehe.
Making my hair
This lesson was about making our hair backing and hairstyle. I use soft cardboard to style my hair. I used cardboard textured fries to do my hair and it looks funny and unique to me.
Adding highlights to my hair
I made some golden strips to add to my hair to add colour and texture to my hair for it to look less plain.
Making another shirt
I decided to make another shirt that is simple and casual because my other shirt is very formal so I wanted to do a different shirt different feel. I used triangles and circle cardboard ot fill in the space of the empty square on the macdonald cup to make it look not too simple.
final work 1
I used the "formal" shirt and it looks abit weird as it looked too formal for my face and I felt that i should not have glued the shirt to the carboard backing because it looks very weird. I think I can do better by not making my hair so stiff and make it more flexible so it deos not look so weird.
final work 2
I used the casual shirt and I felt like my face looked a bit better and matched really well with this shirt as it looked less formal and it felt more laid back and relaxed. It looks somewhat better than if I mixed and match with the other shirt and hair. The shirt has different patterns so it feels more energetic and more informal. I think I can do better by adding my layers to the shirt so it looks more 3D.
Praise: I think my facial features is quite well doned as it looked at me. I like my shadows and highlights on my face because it suits me quite well. I like the specs on my face as it made me look even more like me. I didn't glue my specs to my face so that I can take it out and maybe try a different specs on me. I managed to made layers for my eyes and nose such that it looked like a 3D face and look less boring. I'm very proud of my face and felt all my efforts paid off.
Polish: I felt like I could have done better for my hair because my hair is kind of quite stiff now and it does not really look nice. I tried to use highlights to make it look less plain and less stiff, it worked a little but it was still quite stiff. I could have actually not cut my whole hair in a piece and instead add different parts to the hair backing to make it look natural and nice.
