This is my contour drawing. I found it a bit challenging as my photo does not include my entire head and the shadows were not very obvious on paper. I had to compare the photo on my phone and the image to estimate where I can draw the shadows and forehead
Mostly did the outlining of my sketches and my features started to appear more prominent. It was also a challenge as the carbon paper will move around and could change the accuracy of the drawing :(
cut up the different countors and cardboard pieces. was quite hard as the things were so small!
Glue on the different contours. It was ok but I had to really visualise the end result to know exactly where the different parts should be. I had a fun time watching myself come to life!
(I can't upload the pic as the file was too large)
I made the backplate for the hair as seen in the picture on the right. And also made the baseplate for my hair.
I will be adding texture (finer details) to this plate next week. For the picture on the right, we had to draw out the hairline and make it thicker so has to place the backplate on the head. While the baseplate must fit snugly on the head and baseplate.
Did the hair today, It was fun to design the hairstyle. But at the same time, it ws also challenging as I tried my best to make
the hair complements my features. I did freestyle and just did what felt right. I am pretty happy with the current result, However, I want to work on the volume and shape of my hair to make it more dynamic and shand out more.
I added some highlights to the hair to make it more bold and less plain. It also gave a contrast to the base hair and my skin tone.
I then made the clothing.. It was inspired by a more classy and elegant look. The 3 shades are the different layers of ruffles using different coloured of cardboard collected and the shiny string from a paper bag was to represent the velvet. There is a bow on the top left of the dress to add character to the outfit and the overall elegance. I paired it with the hair I made but the vibes radiating off were not the same as the hair gave off more of a youthful and rebellious vibe as compared to the outfit.
I then did a second hair and I wanted to try a new style with no bangs for the forehead as I usually never to not show my forehead. Both hairstyles gave a different vibe. This one gave off a more mature look.
FINISHING!!!
Finally complete the pieces. I added the velco on the back to stick and made it to stand. As you can tell the new hair plate suits the outfit far better than to first one.
Praise: I love how cohesive everything turned out to be even though I really had no plan for what I was doing at all all. Although at first I thought that doing this may not be very fun, I realised that I was wrong and it was really exciting to experiment with different styles and discuss/brainstorm how I could turn trash into treasure.
Polish: If given the opportunity to do this again. I would choose a photo that is way more detailed than the one I chose for this and I would love to see the differences in myself even though i am the same person. And get more material and try on styles out of my comfort zone!
