Self portrait
Contour outline drawing of my photograph
Today we drew the contour outline drawing which differs from student to student as there is different areas of reflections and tones at various parts of the face. I was a bit unwilling cause we look a little weird at first but slowly, i got used to it and it was actually interesting .
Contour outline blueprint of my face
In this lesson, we drew a blueprint our our picture on a drawing block using carbon paper. I learnt that even if you move the carbon paper your image won't go wrong unless you move the actual picture. we had to tape it so we don't waste efforts. Instead of lines, we also had to draw in shapes so its much easier to cut out later on further in our project.
Traced portrait features - faciography
In this lesson, we traced our potrait features using carbon paper again onto a carboard, other special features that is of other tone on light brown paper, and some of the tone in white to show reflection. It was a tedious process.
Sticking on facial features and completing face assembling
In this lesson we cut our facial features from the pieces of different coloured cardboard we had drawn our different tone features on, before using a brush and white glue to stick these pieces onto our cut-out cardboard face. I found the spectacles and the eyes quite hard to do so. The spectacles requires us to cut the insides of the glasses, thus taking me two weeks to finish.
doing the hair backing and the designing of the hair
Today, i did the hair backing as well as draft my idea for my hair. i had a hard time thinking about how to design the hair that made me lost a week of time.
Complete the hair design as well as assembled the parts onto the face.
After quite a while of designing, i used a bumpy piece of cardboard to cut out our hair into a ponytail to mimic my hairstyle on that day itself. I tried to do more layers but realise i could just use colour paper to design instead. Then, i stuck the hair designs using velcro onto the face behind which is different from what my friends used. However plain or imsymetrical, i like the contrast of the thickness.
first Shirt design
I used a mooncake reusuable paper bag which was light yellow which many petals. However during the process, i accidentally flipped the cutting size hence the white side is the correct fitting. I then decide to decorate the white side instead of redoing, using the inspiation from our school pe shirt to made the shirt. I personally think that the designs are very plain due to the mistake.
1st product & 1st shirt design
I used vecro to stick the shirt at the sides onto the back of the shirts and attach velcro on the board. then i made the stand to take this pic.
2nd product with 2nd shirt design
I did a second design for my shirt as it was the criteria for the art test. then i stick on velcro on the second shirt design befroe taking this picture.
Praise : i like my overall designs of the shirt as it is quite attractive as well as the hair ponytails although the thickness of the layering was different. I also like how it look so similar to me in real life. The braids had colourful strips that i designed was different in the two, with one sticking on the front while the either with extension at the back to stick together
Polish : i could have done the shirts better if it is not the lack of time. I would also not rush through my art piece with those designs.I would have design my first shirt to be more attractive even after make the mistake of flipping the way i did it. I think i could have better design the hair though it is quite attractive. For example, instead of a plain white with just some words on it, i think i should have cut out the flower out as well as the hummingbird to decorate the shirt a bit more
