SELF PORTRAIT
Contour outline drawing of my photograph
Today, we learnt how to trace our faces based on lighting for contour. Everyone's contour is different as the light that reflects off of their face differs from location to location (as well as time picture was taken).
Contour outline blueprint of my face
Today, we traced our self portraits onto a piece of drawing block using a sheet of carbon paper. I learnt that we must trace our hair as shapes, not lines, so it is easier to cut.
Traced portrait features - faciography
Today, we drew out our facial features using carbon paper, as well as our highlights on lighter coloured pieces of cardboard (e.g. light brown and white).
Sticking on facial features and completing face assembling
Today, we cut out our facial features from the pieces of different coloured cardboard before using a brush and glue to stick these pieces onto our cut-out cardboard face. I found the spectacles very hard to do.
Completing hair assembling
Today, we used a bumpy piece of cardboard to cut out our hair. In order to mimic our hair, we cut many layers of this cardboard and stuck them together on a hair backing. As plain as it looks, I like the strands of hair that I added on the side.
Shirt design
I used a colourful piece of soft cardboard to make my collared shirt. Personally, I like the colours of it! However, I think I could have done the collar of the shirt better as it looks messy and a little strange.
Final look with first hair design
As I had extra softcopy cardboard, I also added colourful pieces to my hair to make it prettier. Finally, I added velcro pieces to the different parts so that I can take them apart when I need/want to.
Final look with second hair design
As I had glued my shirt design on, I did a second hair design by using bumpy cardboard and a second hair backing. I also added shiny blue hair pieces to this design to make it prettier!
Taped-on stand
Lastly, I taped the top of a long piece of cardboard onto the back of the body piece to mimic a stand. This allowed the final design to also stand on its own.

PRAISE AND POLISH
PRAISE - I like how my overall final design turned out even if there is definitely space for improvement. Firstly, I love how my final look shares similarities with how I actually look in real life, I have received many comments on how similar it looks to me and hearing that makes me very happy and proud. The last minute adjustment of adding colourful "tinsels" to my two hair designs also makes me feel very happy. Despite it being a very last minute decision, I am delighted with how it turned out as it adds to the vibrancy of the two hair pieces and makes it more pleasing to the eye.
POLISH - Although I am proud of my work, I do definitely think there are things that I would have changed if I could go back in time or do this again. Firstly, I would not have permanently glued my shirt design to my body piece had I known I could have done another shirt design. Furthermore, I most likely would have chosen to do a second shirt design instead of a second hair design if it were not for this. Secondly, I would have made my second hair design differently (more unique) as I think that my second hair design is too basic and similar to the first one. For example, I would try to make a design where my hair is let down and add curly pieces to it, this would make it more special and contrast with the first hair design.
