I am a piece of Art
Tracing the picture
It was very easy to trace although I was worried that I would not do it correctly.
Carbon Outline
I did not know where to put the shadows as the picture did not really have any prominent shadows
Cardboard cutting (face)
Had to cut out the face and upper body. I was afraid that I would cut wrongly as it would result in a waste of cardboard and I would also have to redo it
Facial features
I traced out the features on various types of cardboard using the carbon paper and had to decide what shade of I wanted for different shadows on my face
Completed face
It looks flat but it is finally completed so I am quite happy
Face + Hair backing
Starting on hair next
Completed face with hairĀ
Made another hair frame
Honestly had no idea on what to make
Changed the second hair frame by a bit (added more colours)
Face with second hair
Backing with velcro
Face with first hair
Face with second hair
The first picture is the one with the first hair frame
The second picture is for the second hair frame
Praise & Polish
Praise:
I thought it would be difficult to do the hair but it turns out that the hair was not so difficult to make as I could cut out triangular pieces of paper to make the hair. It was also much easier to paste to make something that looks like hair. I also tried to use different colours to make it seem like the sun was shining on it.
Polish:
I could have used a different piece of cardboard to make the face look less flat. Currently, because most pieces of cardboard were quite flat, the face looks lifeless and without volume. Instead, I could have used larger pieces of cardboard so that the face could have more contours and look better.
I could have also tried to give the hair more texture by using different pieces of cardboard and maybe even curling it. It would have made the cardboard portrait seem more "alive" and could also be a fun way to change my features (my hair is quite straight).
