The past few days have been a joyful celebration of movement, participation, and friendly competition - both with others and with ourselves. It has been wonderful to see pupils of all ages embracing the challenge and stepping out of their comfort zones.
Throughout the week, sport has reminded us of its power to build not only physical strength but also character. Our pupils have shown impressive teamwork, respect, perseverance, and leadership in every event, whether competing in a race, supporting a teammate, or simply striving to improve their own performance. These moments of determination and self-belief have been at the heart of what Sports Week is all about.
We are deeply grateful to our parents for their ongoing support- encouraging their children to stay active, to focus on effort over outcome, and, where possible, for becoming part of the cheer squad. In addition, I would like to extend the gratitude to our PE team, teachers, support staff and sports leaders who supported the smooth running of events. Seeing the older children support their younger peers not only develops their leadership capabilities but once again reminds me of the beautiful community we have at DC.
Sports Week has been a powerful reminder that sport is about far more than competition—it’s about joy, confidence, and learning to push ourselves just a little further. We are proud of every pupil who took part and hopes this is just a small part of a lifetime of being active.
Many thanks,
