Move Up Day gives every child the chance to spend time in their new classroom, meet their teacher for the next academic year, and begin to imagine the learning journey ahead. For many children, it’s a day filled with joyful anticipation. For others, it’s a day that brings questions and even a few nerves, all of which are perfectly natural. Part of our role as educators is to support children through these moments of change and help them see transitions not as hurdles, but as opportunities.
Throughout the day, I visited every year group and was struck by the thoughtfulness with which our staff had prepared for the children. Classrooms were welcoming and calm, activities were designed to spark interest and build relationships, and the emphasis was clearly on connection and care. It was lovely to see children begin to settle, form early bonds with their new teachers and classmates in some year groups, and walk away at the end of the day feeling proud and more confident about what lies ahead.
Transitions like this are an important part of building resilience and emotional readiness. Thank you, parents, for the trust you place in us to support your children through every stage of their school journey.
With the summer holidays approaching, Move Up Day reminds us that growth never stops and we are already looking forward to all that next year will bring.
