It has been lovely to welcome you and the children back to the campus after the winter break. The children have returned with enthusiasm and smiles!
As we start Term 2, I am delighted to share our new initiative ‘Positively DC’ with you. This will see the whole school embarking on a month-long focus on kindness and positivity. Kindness is a fundamental value that shapes our students' character and helps us to continue to grow and nurture a supportive school environment. During our assembly this week, we launched this with the students and used the story of the ‘Little free library’ to inspire them. Mrs Dalvi has also shared the kindness challenge with you all via Class Dojo.
During the month, we want to emphasise to the children that kindness extends beyond mere politeness; it involves empathy, understanding, and a genuine concern for others. By nurturing kindness, we create an environment where every student feels valued and supported. This term, we are encouraging students to engage in acts of kindness, both big and small, to make a positive impact on those around them.
In the classroom, teachers are integrating lessons and activities that promote kindness, such as collaborative projects and discussions about empathy. These initiatives aim to help students recognise the importance of kindness in building strong relationships and a cohesive community.
We also invite parents to reinforce these values at home using the ‘30 day kindness challenge’ shared by Mrs Dalvi. Whether engaging in conversations about the importance of kindness, modelling compassionate behaviour, or encouraging children to perform acts of kindness, your support is invaluable in reinforcing this key message.
Have a lovely weekend.
