This week marked the exciting launch of Positively DC 2 at Doha College Primary, our one month, focused initiative designed to nurture kindness, respect, and positive interactions across our school community. This week, we had a special focus on the power of words and how the things we say can have a lasting impact on others.
In our assembly, Mrs Price delivered a powerful message using a simple tube of toothpaste. As she squeezed it out, she asked the children to try putting the toothpaste back in. Of course, it couldn’t be done - a perfect metaphor for how our words, once spoken, cannot be taken back. This visual demonstration made a lasting impression on our pupils and served as a reminder that our words matter. Whether it's a kind compliment, an encouraging comment, or a thoughtless remark, our speech shapes the feelings and experiences of those around us.
At Doha College, we believe that developing respectful and kind communication is just as important as academic success. Through Positively DC 2, we are empowering our children to think before they speak, to build each other up, and to create a school environment where everyone feels valued and safe.
Over the course of the next month, you’ll hear more about how our pupils are exploring kindness and respect both in and outside the classroom. We encourage you to continue these conversations at home - ask your child what they have learned in assembly, or reflect together on moments where words made a difference in your day.
Thank you for your continued support in helping us grow a community built on empathy, understanding, and mutual respect. Together, we can ensure that Positively DC becomes more than just an initiative, it becomes part of who we are.

We are pleased to announce a series of Zumba 'Wake Up, Shake Up' taster sessions taking place on Sunday, 4th May and Sunday, 11th May, from 7.00am–7.15am. These sessions are for EYFS pupils and their parents.
This class will be held in the Primary Dining Hall. These classes are designed to promote physical activity and cognitive stimulation for both parents and students. Miss Claire Rattray who is a qualified Zumba instructor will lead this class. Research indicates that engaging in physical exercise can significantly enhance academic performance and cognitive function. Zumba offers an excellent opportunity for community building and a great way to kickstart your week.
Please note that all EYFS pupils who attend this session must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, and parents/guardians are responsible for walking their child to their classroom at 7.15am.
We look forward to your enthusiastic participation. We aim to roll this out for other Key Stages in the very near future.
