As we complete the third week of our 'Positively DC' journey, our focus has been on the powerful difference between being a ‘bystander’ and becoming an ‘upstander’. This is a message that resonates deeply within our community, reinforcing the importance of positive action and the courage to stand up for what is right.
At DC, we believe that creating a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment for all students goes beyond simply avoiding unkind behavior, it is about actively contributing to a culture of respect, kindness, tolerance and inclusion. This week, our assembly, circle times, and classroom discussions have explored what it means to be an upstander. We shared with the children that this is someone who takes purposeful action to support others, whether that means speaking out, offering a helping hand, or standing beside a friend in need. It could be including another child in your game or telling a trusted adult when a friend is feeling sad.
We know that being an upstander isn’t always easy. In the assembly, we spoke about the qualities of an upstander; bravery, courage, empathy, and a sense of responsibility to help when it may be easier to ignore. However, these are the qualities that define true character and leadership and are the key traits we strive to instill in every Doha College student.
I encourage you to speak with your children about what they have learned this week. Share your own experiences and discuss the power of small, positive actions in creating lasting change. Together, as a community, we can empower our young people to step up, speak out, and make a difference.
Thank you for your continued support as we work to build a kinder, more connected community.

We are delighted to launch a new pastoral initiative designed to enhance the transition experience for our students as they move up through the Primary school and as our Year 6s move into the Secondary school. From FS1 to Year 6, all children and their parents will be invited to complete a 'One Page Profile' together. But what is a One Page Profile? It’s a simple, yet powerful document that gives every child and their family a voice, helping us better understand each student as an individual.
We recognise that moving into a new year group can bring a mix of excitement and sometimes, nerves. By sharing important information—such as your child’s interests, passions, and any potential worries—they can start the year feeling seen, understood, and supported. Whether your child loves sport, music, animals, or has something on their mind, the One Page Profile allows teachers to get to know them even before they step into their new classroom.
For our staff, this approach is incredibly valuable. It strengthens a smooth and seamless handover between year groups and ensures that no time is lost in building meaningful relationships. It allows teachers to better understand each child’s unique personality, preferences, and needs. This deeper insight enables us to celebrate their individuality from the very first day and offer personalised support from the outset.
The One Page Profile places student wellbeing at the centre of our transition approach and further enhances the strong pastoral care that lies at the heart of everything we do at Doha College. We’re excited to work in partnership with you to get to know your children even better, and to ensure they feel confident, supported, and ready to thrive in their new year group.
Please look out for information from your child’s class teacher about when and where you will have the opportunity to complete the One Page Profile in readiness for the new academic year. This information will be shared during the next week on Class Dojo.

Led by Miss Claire Rattray, these fun, high-energy sessions run every Sunday from 7.00–7.15 am in the Primary Dining Hall, offering a lively and positive start to the day.
Please note: All EYFS, Year 1, and Year 2 pupils must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, who will walk them to class at 7.15 am.
