I am delighted to share the success of our Positively DC campaign launch, an initiative designed to inspire kindness, gratitude, and a stronger sense of belonging across our school community.
This week, the Secondary School came together in an assembly that was not only thought-provoking but also uplifting, culminating in a moment of pure joy as students and staff alike danced together in celebration.
The assembly began with powerful stories and examples of how small acts of kindness can ripple out to create significant positive change in schools and beyond. We reflected on gratitude as more than just a polite "thank you," but as a mindset that enhances relationships, builds resilience, and fosters a culture of mutual respect. This resonated strongly with the students, who were encouraged to take ownership of these values in their daily lives.
The highlight of the launch was a truly unforgettable moment: the entire Secondary School—students, teachers, and leaders—came together to dance to a song chosen to reflect the themes of joy and unity. It was heartwarming to see smiles, laughter, and connection as our school community moved together in unison. This powerful visual embodied everything Positively DC stands for.
Over the coming weeks, themed activities will continue to build on this momentum. Each week will focus on a specific aspect of kindness and gratitude, with opportunities for students and staff to engage in meaningful, collaborative initiatives. From expressing appreciation to peers and teachers, to participating in acts of service, our aim is to make these values a living, breathing part of everyday life at our school.
We are already seeing the positive impact of this campaign in the enthusiasm and feedback from students. I encourage you to join us in this journey by reinforcing these values at home—perhaps by sharing what you’re grateful for as a family or discussing how acts of kindness have brightened your own lives.
Thank you for your ongoing support as we work together to nurture not just academic excellence, but also the character and well-being of our young people. Here’s to a term filled with positivity and connection!
