With over 30 staff members supporting, our pupils were given a fantastic opportunity to experience a two-discipline event for the very first time. The Aquathlon began in the swimming pool, where each child completed a distance appropriate to their swim level. From there, they moved into the transition zone in the changing rooms for a quick and efficient change - PE kits over their swimsuits - before racing out onto the MUGA.
At the tactically positioned bag drop zone, our young athletes dropped their bags before setting off on their run around the school campus. Along the course, staff and pupil marshals cheered them on, motivating them at every turn. Each participant then completed their run back on the MUGA, crossing the finish line to a congratulatory handshake from Mr Watson and proudly receiving their certificate in recognition of their hard work and determination.
The PE team could not be more proud of every single pupil who took part. The atmosphere was electric, made even better by the fantastic turnout of parents, who cheered for all children — not just their own — as they moved through transition, the bag drop, and out onto the run course. The Doha College community truly came together, creating a memorable, supportive, and joyful event for athletes, staff, and families alike.
A very big thank you from myself and the entire PE Department to everyone involved. We cannot wait to bring the Primary Aquathlon back again next year - bigger, better, and just as full of smiles!
