This week, we celebrated the final week of our ‘Positively DC 2’ initiative. In our Primary assembly, we explored a theme that sits at the heart of our values as a school community: difference makes us stronger.
Our pupils were invited to reflect on the question, “What makes you unique or different?” and it was wonderful to see so many hands raised when asked if they had lived in more than one country, spoken more than one language, or called Qatar home for more than two years. These lived experiences are powerful reminders of the richness within our school community.
To bring the message to life, we looked at the incredible teamwork behind a successful Formula One team. Almost all students recognised Lewis Hamilton and his skills as a driver. However, from engine specialists and race strategists to medics and aerodynamic engineers, we discussed how each team member brings a different skill and role that allows the team to be successful. Just like in our school, success doesn’t come from everyone being the same, it comes from everyone contributing in their own way.
This assembly was not just about recognising how we are different, but about celebrating how those differences contribute to something greater. Whether it’s the languages we speak, the cultures we come from, or the unique talents we bring to the classroom, our diversity is a strength. It is not just something to be accepted, but something to be celebrated.
At Doha College, we strive to nurture inclusive, empathetic learners who recognise the value of each individual. Thank you for continuing to support this vision at home. Let’s keep encouraging our children to embrace who they are and to appreciate the differences in others. It’s in those differences that our community truly shines.
