As another term draws to a close, I have had the great privilege this week of interviewing the final shortlisted candidates for the Head Boy, Head Girl and Big 6 positions in the College for next year.
Without exception, the candidates performed exceptionally well at interview and spoke incredibly eloquently about their vision, their plans, their love for the College and the skills that they would bring to the role. The calibre of candidates was so strong, that the panel had an incredibly difficult time choosing between them and we were unanimous that any shortlisted candidate we spoke to would be an excellent ambassador for the school.
The future will, as ever, require great leaders, and our conversations with the twelve shortlisted Year 12s suggests that the future will be in very good hands indeed!
As the holy month of Ramadan draws to a close, I extend my warmest wishes to you and your loved ones on the joyous occasion of Eid al-Fitr.
Eid Mubarak!

On Tuesday, 21st May, DC will have a ‘Drop Down’ Culture Day. During this day pupils will be invited to wear their traditional, cultural, or country dress/colours. They will then take ‘a trip around the world’ learning about many of the diverse cultures and communities that make DC so wonderful.
Thank you to all the families who have already offered their support, resources or knowledge for this day! I have now closed the survey response and am in the process of collating this information. I will be in contact soon to link up parents wishing to share information about the same countries/cultures.
If you wish to be involved in this and did not manage to respond in time, please contact mhesketh@dohacollege.com or the main office.

Timings and Break Times:
We will resume our usual school timings on Sunday, April 21st, and all school cafeterias and eating spaces will be operational.
Hot Weather:
During Term 3, we will monitor outdoor temperatures closely and plan to implement a hot weather break protocol when temperatures consistently exceed 40 degrees Celsius. During this time, break times will extend in the morning, allowing students across the college to enjoy an outdoor break.
Mobile Phones:
In secondary school, mobile phones should be kept silent and out of sight. We have reviewed our current guidance regarding phone usage on campus during Term 2, including input from parent focus groups during the 'Sip and Stroll' events. At the beginning of Term 3, we will discuss plans with our parent body, and details of an upcoming webinar on this topic will be communicated shortly.
Punctuality:
Our focus on punctuality to lessons during Term 2 has proven successful in raising standards in secondary school. We will continue to emphasise our expectations throughout Term 3. We appreciate your continued support.
6th Form Lanyards:
Students have responded positively to our reinforcement of expectations regarding the wearing of lanyards. We appreciate your support in adhering to this important protocol, which is designed to ensure the safety of students on campus.
Study Leave & Revision for Year 11, Year 12 and Year 13:
The last day of school before study leave commences is Thursday, 25th April. During study leave, students are still welcome in school and must follow their normal timetabled lessons.
Students should make productive use of the holiday period to complete plenty of revision. This must include lots of quizzing and past exam question practice. Further details about the revision programme on offer once Study Leave commences will be shared by Mr Corke.
