We are now in the second week of our Positively DC (2) initiative, and it has been truly inspiring to see the positive energy spreading throughout the school. This week, our focus is on care; how we can take care of ourselves and each other.
At Doha College, we believe that caring is at the heart of building a supportive and thriving community. This week, our students have been exploring what it means to care for themselves and those around them. Through discussions, stories, and practical activities, they have been learning that taking small, thoughtful actions can make a big difference. We also had a wonderful assembly led by Mr Holland - with a little help from the students.
One of the key messages we are sharing with the children is that self-care is not selfish. Just as we encourage them to be kind to others, we are also helping them understand the importance of being kind to themselves. This might mean taking a break when feeling overwhelmed, talking to someone they trust when worried, or finding moments of calm in their busy day.
Caring for others can be as simple as a smile, a helping hand, or listening when someone needs to talk. We are encouraging our students to look out for their friends and think about how they can show kindness, both at school and at home.
You can support this theme at home by asking your child how they have shown care today, whether for themselves or someone else. Encouraging these reflections helps reinforce the positive habits we’re nurturing at school.
Thank you for being part of our Positively DC journey.

Wake Up, Shake Up: Now Open to Year 1!
These fun and energising sessions take place on Sundays from 7.00–7.15am in the Primary Dining Hall, and are led by Miss Claire Rattray, a qualified Zumba instructor. Designed to promote physical activity and cognitive stimulation, these short sessions offer a fantastic way to start the day positively—for both parents and children.
Please note: All EYFS and Year 1 pupils attending must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, who will be responsible for walking their child to class at 7.15am.
We look forward to seeing even more of our families joining us to ‘Wake Up and Shake Up’ together!
