In recent weeks, I have had the great pleasure of seeing students or groups of students on a daily basis to celebrate their plethora of success from both their academic and co-curricular pursuits. This has included students who have won a variety of international competitions, students who have been part of our award-winning sports teams and those who have excelled in academic tournaments.
Having worked at a number of leading British International Schools I am confident that the talent and work ethic that exists within our students is second to none and is a testament to the support that they are given by their excellent and inspiring teachers.
As our co-curricular programme winds down for Ramadan, we will shortly be announcing next term’s enhanced programme. I would encourage all of our students to try something new next term. They may just discover a talent that they never knew existed!
Have a wonderful weekend everyone.

While Ramadan is a time that Muslims fulfil a pillar of faith by fasting from dawn till dusk each day, there are a number of values that characterise the month that we can all learn from.
Ramadan is an opportunity for all of us to pause, reflect, and grow together. This month is about being that little bit better every day; more compassionate, more appreciative, and more giving, creating ripples of positive change in our lives and the lives of those around us.
Ramadan is also a perfect time to look back at the year so far. What have we done well? Where can we do better? It is about humbly being grateful for our successes and setting our sights on how we can improve.
As a community at Doha College, let us unite in the spirit of Ramadan. Let it be a time where we support each other's journeys towards becoming the best versions of ourselves, creating an environment of inclusivity, respect and understanding. Let it be a time where we think of the suffering of others around the world and through our individual charity, the power of the collective makes a difference.
Together, let's make this Ramadan a starting point for lasting positive change, strengthening the bonds that tie us and building a foundation of kindness and generosity that will resonate throughout the year.

The Aspirations Evening is designed to facilitate one-on-one interactions between our students and professionals from the Doha College community, providing valuable insights into the educational and experiential pathways that led to their current careers. This firsthand encounter allows students to pose questions, explore academic backgrounds, inquire about extracurricular pursuits, and gain an understanding of the challenges and triumphs faced by these professionals throughout their career journeys.

I was very privileged to accompany our team of athletes and PE teachers as they competed in the British Schools of the Middle East (BSME) Under 11’s competition over the weekend in Dubai.
We had some wonderful individual performances on the track and field, as well as great joint team efforts in Basketball, Football and Netball. The vocal and team support from our parent spectators was incredible, along with the warm welcome home reception at the airport in the form of balloons, flowers and chocolate cake! The sense of community, in typical DC fashion, was palpable.
A huge thank you to our wonderful parents, but also an incredible well done to our children, who moved beyond their comfort zone to compete against other elite student athletes in the region.
This reminds me of our school vision at DC “to enable personal growth”. Getting out of your comfort zone challenges you to learn new things, adapt to new situations, and develop new skills. This process of growth can lead to a deeper understanding of yourself and your capabilities. Allowing our children to experience this type of challenge really does exemplify DC’s vision for holistic education.

International Women's Day holds significant importance as the day serves as a vehicle to celebrate the remarkable contributions of women from all walks of life. In our culturally diverse setting, we are fortunate to witness the strength, resilience, and achievements of women from various backgrounds every day.
From mothers nurturing our students at home; to teachers inspiring them in the classroom; professionals breaking barriers in their careers; to community leaders advocating for change, women play pivotal roles in shaping our society and enriching our lives.
As parents, your support in promoting gender equality and empowering our students, both girls and boys, is invaluable. Together, we have the opportunity to instil in them a deep appreciation for the importance of gender equality and the empowerment of all individuals.
This International Women's Day, let us take a moment to honour the extraordinary women in our lives and thank them for all they have done and everything they continue to do. We hold dear a recommitment within ourselves to create a world where every individual has the opportunity to thrive, regardless of gender.
Happy International Women’s Day!
