I hope they enjoyed it even half as much as I did; their energy, curiosity, and wide-eyed enthusiasm were a joy to witness. A huge thank you to FS1 Purple for having me and for making me feel so welcome.
As Secondary Head, I spend most of my days speaking with pupils who are thinking about or preparing for GCSEs, planning A-levels, and discussing life beyond school. To be able to step into FS1 and see the very beginning of that journey is incredibly grounding and inspiring. It reminds me that every confident, articulate Year 11 or Year 13 pupil once sat cross-legged on the carpet, hanging onto every page of a storybook.
Our Primary colleagues do an exceptional job, consistently and passionately preparing our youngest pupils with the curiosity, resilience, and love of learning that we see in them when they arrive in Secondary. Watching the foundations being built at FS1; knowing that I will meet some of these same pupils again at age 11, was a powerful reminder of the seamless journey we offer across the college.
Thank you again FS1 Purple, you made my week!

Year 7 Cell Model Competition Winners
The results were outstanding. Some pupils used LEGO to carefully construct each organelle, while others designed models with built-in lights to highlight different parts of the cell in detail. A few even calculated and displayed the exact magnification from the real cell to their model — an impressive touch of scientific precision. And in a display of real originality, several pupils baked their own cell cakes, combining artistic flair with biological understanding.
The top three models from each class were selected for display in the S1 Atrium, where they have been admired by staff and pupils alike. From those, the final top three winners for the entire year group were chosen:
1st Place – Liam K (7YEO)
2nd Place – Nainika S(7XT)
3rd Place – Haya Y(7YEO)
Congratulations to all our talented Year 7 scientists for their enthusiasm, imagination, and hard work — your models have made this one of the most inspiring science challenges of the year.
