At the heart of both occasions lies a shared belief: that every child has the capacity to lead, to make a difference, and to contribute positively to our school community. Leadership at Doha College is not about titles or badges; it’s about service, teamwork, and responsibility. It’s about learning how to listen, include others, and make thoughtful choices that uplift those around us.
During the Investiture Ceremony, our new Year 6 leaders were formally awarded their positions, from Head Boy and Head Girl to House Captains and Prefects. Each role reflects an important aspect of school life and provides our pupils with genuine opportunities to influence and improve our community. Watching them accept their badges with pride and purpose was a wonderful reminder of the confidence and potential that develops when children are trusted with responsibility.
In my address to the pupils, I shared the story of Boyan Slat, a young engineer who, at just 16 years old, noticed plastic pollution while diving and decided to do something about it. His idea to clean the oceans grew into ‘The Ocean Cleanup’, a project that now removes thousands of tonnes of plastic waste from our seas every year. Boyan’s story reminds us that leadership often begins with curiosity and courage, with one young person daring to act on a simple idea to make the world better.
As we look ahead, I am incredibly proud of our pupils for embracing leadership with such enthusiasm and integrity. Like Boyan, they remind us that true leaders don’t wait for permission, they see a problem, take action, and inspire others to do the same.

We are excited to announce that our first ever Doha College Aquathlon will take place this term!
Boys’ Aquathlon: Sunday, 23rd November (1.30 pm – approximately 4.00 pm finish)
Girls’ Aquathlon: Sunday, 30th November (1.30 pm – approximately 4.00 pm finish)
This event is open to all pupils in Year 3 – 6 and is designed as a participation event—a celebration of fun, fitness, and the joy of taking part, regardless of swimming or running ability.
Pupils have had the opportunity during class time to complete a Google Form indicating their interest in joining. The swimming distance will be adapted to suit all ability levels, ensuring both beginner and advanced swimmers can participate confidently.
Running distances:
Year 3 & 4: 700m
Year 5 & 6: 1.4km
All pupils who complete the event will receive a participation certificate to recognise their effort and achievement. As this is a participation-focused event, timings will not be announced on the day, but results will be shared with pupils later in the week during their PE lessons.
Please note that parents will not be able to watch the swimming discipline of the event due to spacing around the pool and safeguarding restrictions. However, parents are welcome to watch the running discipline from either of the two viewing galleries — above the MUGA or above the Astro.
We look forward to an exciting and enjoyable event for all our young athletes in year 3 – 6!
