The New Zealand Scholarship is an extra examination that you may choose to sit at the end of the year, in one or more subjects. It is intended that only the top 2 - 3% of candidates will be awarded Scholarships.
The examinations will be on the same content as that covered in your Level 3 classes, but the questions will ask for greater depth in knowledge, analysis and application.
Scholarship is not an additional qualification - it does not generate credits - but it is an award of excellence and has monetary rewards.
When you have signalled your intention to enter Scholarship in a subject, by selecting the Scholarship Studies option, your teacher will guide you towards any extra reading and preparation to help you reach the standard required.
Different Scholarships are awarded for:
Reaching Scholarship level in 1 or 2 subjects.
Attaining the top Scholarship level in a single subject.
Reaching Scholarship level in 3 or more subjects.
Attaining the top Scholarship level in 3 or more subjects (approximately 40 - 60 students nationally).
Premier Scholarship (approximately 7 - 12 students nationally).
