“Learning another language can improve performance in the learner’s first language and is highly recommended not only for students who have particular strengths in language learning but also for those who find language and language-related activities challenging.
Citizens of New Zealand are also citizens of the world. We need to be aware of the importance of international languages, such as French, in relation to culture and cultural exchanges, literature, music, science and technology, and trade and tourism. The French language is spoken by over two hundred million people in more than forty different countries.”
