Course description:
At Level 2, the focus areas include Greek literature, historical events, mythology, architecture, and sculpture. An introduction to Roman social life is covered via an inquiry into the impact of the eruption of Mt Vesuvius.
Course of study:
Learning about the mythology of the ancient Greeks and the inspiration this provides for contemporary film.
Reading and analysing The Odyssey by Homer, and examining ideas and values of the classical world.
Learning to appreciate the architecture and sculpture of ancient Greece.
Assessment:
Internal – up to 10 credits at NCEA Level 2.
External – up to 8 credits at NCEA Level 2.
Entry criteria:
Open.
