Course description:
In this course, you will continue to explore and develop the language skills you have been acquiring since beginning your studies in French. Your knowledge will be broadened as you learn to express your ideas in a range of situations. You will learn to use more grammar, which will allow you to make much more in-depth observations about things such as youth culture or health issues affecting young people. This will be particularly useful if you are hoping to live for an extended period of time in a French-speaking country, or if you want a career where communicating in a second language is necessary.
Course of study:
As a Level 2 French student, you study the language within less familiar contexts. This means learning to communicate about real issues affecting young people, as opposed to simply communicating about yourself. By the end of the year you can expect to be able to:
communicate about future plans.
give and respond to advice, warnings and suggestions.
express and respond to approval and disapproval, agreement and disagreement.
give and respond to information and opinions, giving reasons.
read about and recount actual or imagined events in the past.
Assessment:
Internal – up to 9 credits at NCEA Level 2.
External – up to 10 credits at NCEA Level 2.
Costs:
