Course description:
Recreation Physical is only offered at Year 11. It provides practical learning experiences in sport and physical activity with a strong emphasis on learning through practical participation. This course includes team sports, individual sports, fitness training and coaching.
Students may take this course in conjunction with Level 1 Sport and Exercise Science.
Acceptance into this course is with approval by the HOD Physical Education and Health and the DP of Teaching and Learning.
If you are thinking of taking Level 2 Sport and Exercise Science you are advised to take Year 11 Sport and Exercise Science.
The topics that students should expect to study in 2026 include:
Exercise prescription with a focus on a personal fitness or recreational programme
Games, sports, and individual pursuits as examples of physical activity beyond school
Sports education – developing interpersonal skills in a sports setting
Sports coaching - the art of coaching and leadership
Assessment:
Students will be assessed in areas measuring physical, social, and interpersonal skills through physical activity and the sports education topic.
Costs:
Course fee of $100 (confirmed early 2026)
Covers a range of pursuits that enable students to learn through a variety of movement contexts and from professionals in a range of disciplines.
