Course description:
This full-year course builds on the foundations of Year 9 Art and emphasises practical, hands-on learning. Students will explore a range of art-making processes and artistic disciplines, working with both wet and dry media, and are encouraged to experiment and take creative risks.
Throughout the year, students will develop technical skills and creative strategies, using an artist’s workbook to document their ideas, techniques, and progress. They will produce a series of artworks informed by their investigations.
Students will research and respond to the work of established artists using this for inspiration to enhance their own creativity ideas. The course fosters personal expression, critical thinking, and creative exploration, with equal emphasis placed on the art-making process and the final outcome.
This programme provides a strong foundation for further study in Year 11 Visual Art.
