Course description:
In this course, you will continue to explore and develop the language skills you have been acquiring since beginning your studies in French. By the end of the course, you will be able to communicate in a range of familiar contexts, particularly useful if you wish to travel to French-speaking countries or to communicate with friends, whether e-mail or snail mail.
Course of study:
As a Year 11 French student, you learn to communicate about such things as your daily routine, your school habits, and making travel arrangements such as bookings and ordering meals. By the end of the year you can expect to be able to:
communicate about past activities and events.
communicate about present and past states, feelings, and opinions.
communicate about past habits and routines.
describe, compare, and contrast people, places, and things.
give and follow instructions.
communicate about problems and solutions.
communicate about immediate plans, hopes, wishes, and intentions.
communicate in formal situations.
feel comfortable maintaining dialogue in French in familiar situations.
Assessment:
No NCEA credits available in 2026

Entry criteria:
Completion of Year 10 French, or at the discretion of the TIC if other circumstances apply.
Future pathways:
This course is a pre-requisite for the Level 2 NCEA French course at Dio, but entry can also be at the discretion of the TIC French.
