In Year 13, you will be studying towards either:
Level 3 NCEA (and Scholarship) and/or:
University Entrance and/or:
Completing Level 2 NCEA.
Your programme of study includes:
Religious Studies
Transition & Career Pathway Planning
Health
and FIVE options of your choice.
It is recommended that you take at least one subject that develops high literacy skills, such as English, Classical Studies, History or Geography, and a Mathematics subject.
You may take subjects from any NCEA Level (1, 2 or 3) if the timetable allows it and you meet the entry requirements.
Entry requirements at Level 3 usually stipulate a minimum of 16 credits in that subject at Level 2, or as otherwise stated in this guide.
It is possible to pick up some subjects for the first time at Level 3 but only:
at the HOD's discretion
if you are prepared to do some background work over the holidays
if you have gained satisfactory literacy and numeracy qualifications at Level 2
if you are only entering one new subject.
Level 3 NCEA
Level 3 courses are designed for students with proven academic ability and are intended to be a rigorous preparation for tertiary study.
To gain this qualification you need a total of 60 credits from Level 3 or above.
Most courses offer approximately 20 credits.
Note: NCEA Certificates can be 'endorsed' to show high achievement in 50 or more credits. Course endorsement is also possible.
*Note: English for Academic Purposes is taught at Levels 1 & 2 in Year 11; Level 3 in Year 12 and Level 4 in Year 13
