Course description:
This course is a strongly New Zealand-based programme in which major economic issues are closely studied. You will learn how economics influences day-to-day life, business performance and government policies. You will be able to look at the world in a different light and make business and everyday decisions much more clearly. This is an important course to assist you to understand the policies you are voting for in an election.

Assessment:
Internal – 10 credits at NCEA Level 2.
External – 8 credits at NCEA Level 2.

Entry criteria:
Economics at Level 1; otherwise at the discretion of the TIC Economics, who will look to see if you have Literacy and Numeracy at Level 1 and a strong determination to achieve your goals through consistent effort. This decision will be made in consultation with your Dean, and conditions may apply.
Future pathways:
This is a recommended course if you are considering taking this subject at NCEA Level 3, or completing a business degree.
