Course description:
During this course you will learn new sentence structures and vocabulary that will enable you to begin to read, listen, converse and write in Te Reo Māori. Each year, topics of learning and genre are prescribed by NZQA.

No NCEA credits available 2026
Entry criteria:
Two years of prior language learning at Years 9 and 10 and a minimum of Paetae (Achieved) in Year 10 Te Reo Māori assessments is required.
Future pathways:
This course is a pre-requisite for the Level 2 NCEA Te Reo Māori course.
