In Visual Art, programmes are structured to allow for individualised learning based on skill, ability and interests. Students will learn technical skills, creativity and art appreciation. They will work collaboratively, sharing ideas and critiquing work.
Working in the Arts promotes student motivation and requires self-discipline and the confidence to succeed. Students will learn problem solving and critical thinking skills that are relevant to the wider world. These and other important habits stay with students and help them succeed in other areas of school, life and future careers.
In all senior Visual Arts subjects, student work contributes to both internal and external assessments throughout the year. This integrated approach allows students to build stronger work over time. The external achievement standard is assessed through a portfolio developed across the year, which also incorporates work completed for the internal achievement standards.
