Course description:
Business Studies is about how individuals and groups of people organise, plan, and act to create and develop goods and services to satisfy customers. Students of Business Studies will have opportunities to understand the integral role of business in society and the economy, through exploring enterprise culture and gaining knowledge and understanding of good business practice. Students will also acquire greater financial capability. Issues such as sustainability, citizenship, enterprise, and globalisation will also be explored as they are central to both business and the study of business.
Course of study:
The course will include:
Analysis of the internal factors that affect a business operating in a global context.
Development of a marketing plan that contributes to the overall objectives of a business.
Carrying out an innovative and sustainable business activity with consultation.
Assessment:
Internal – up to 15 credits at NCEA Level 3.
External – up to 4 credits at NCEA Level 3.
Literacy standards worth 19 credits.

Company registration fee per student: $45
Start-up capital for Young Enterprise: approx. $50

Future pathways:
This course is on the list of university approved subjects, offering up to 18 Level 3 NCEA credits.
