Course description:
The Level 1 Textile & Design course allows students to express themselves creatively and extend their design thinking knowledge, understanding and skills by undertaking a variety of projects related to the development of a given brief. Students will explore traditional and innovative methods to produce functional and decorative outcomes using a wide range of textile materials and components.
Course of study:
Use design ideas to produce a conceptual design for an outcome to address a brief.
Implement basic procedures using textile materials to make a specified product.
Use the work of an influential designer to inform design ideas.
Applied design.
Garment construction
Opportunities exist to extend students’ design capabilities by entering local and national competitions in garment design and/or construction.
Costs:
Materials: $40 per term.
Entry criteria:
Year 10 Textile & Design would be an advantage, but is not essential.
Future pathways:
This course can be continued into Level 2 Textile & Design.
