Online Mindfulness Therapy for Anxiety

Please feel free to email me to find out more about Skype therapy sessions with me.

Everyone that I have worked with really enjoys the mindfulness approach that I teach for healing emotional suffering…

“Dr. Strong helped me through the most difficult time of my life. I wasn’t able to leave the house for over five months due to crippling anxiety. Dr. Strong was able to help me welcome my anxiety and take care of it in order to heal it. I had always thought anxiety was something to push away and fear, but through meditation and welcoming my anxiety, I learned I can truly enjoy experiences that would otherwise trigger anxiety. Everything else I have tried has not come close to the healing and happiness I have experienced through Dr. Strong’s sessions. He is very kind and honest and I couldn’t have healed my anxiety without him. Every day is different, but even after ending our sessions, his counseling has proved invaluable. Thank you Dr. Strong!”

During these online therapy sessions I will teach you how to apply mindfulness, including mindfulness meditation for healing all forms of anxiety disorders, including Generalized Anxiety Disorder and Social Anxiety Disorder, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, chronic depression, and addiction, including alcohol addiction and other forms of emotional suffering, by applying the very successful methods of Mindfulness-based Psychotherapy.

This approach is remarkably effective and most people notice tangible recovery after 3-4 Skype therapy sessions with me.

Online Mindfulness-based Skype Psychotherapy is extremely effective for managing anxiety and depression without relying on medications. It is far better to treat the underlying cause of your emotional pain rather than just suppressing symptoms.

Online Therapist for overcoming Anxiety and Panic Attacks

So as a professional psychotherapist I am often asked by my clients: Is it possible to overcome anxiety without using medications? Is it possible to heal from anxiety without using medications? And the answer is yes it is.

So medications have a place, but they should only be used as a short term way of managing the symptoms of anxiety. If you really want to recover from anxiety and you want to break free from your dependence on anxiety medications then you need to address the underlying psychological cause of your anxiety.

So anxiety, like any other form of emotional suffering including depression, is basically psychological in nature. It is caused by a psychological process. Now that process may be triggered by many different factors including a chemical imbalance in the body or brain, hormonal problems, and so on. There are many different types of triggers. But the important thing for you to understand is that those triggers trigger a psychological mechanism that creates the experience of anxiety and that is basically a habit. It's a psychological habit and that habit can be changed. And if you want to re recover from anxiety fully you have to change that habit. And that's what I focus on during my online therapy sessions for anxiety.

As an online therapist for anxiety, I will teach you how to apply mindfulness to heal that underlying habit that causes your anxiety. You do this by actively cultivating a conscious and compassionate relationship with our emotions. We effectively learn how to meditate on our anxiety. This is the best way to promote the healing and recovery from anxiety.

You have to change the way that you relate to it. You have to change from being reactive towards your anxiety to being compassionate towards your anxiety. If you fall into the habit of becoming reactive you simply feed the anxiety and it cannot heal. But if you generate and cultivate a relationship based on compassion with your anxiety then you create the right conditions that allow that anxiety to heal itself.

So it is the quality of your relationship with your anxiety that is the key factor for recovery from anxiety. The more that you can develop that compassionate relationship that is non-reactive, the more that you effectively teach the anxiety how to heal itself.

So we do this by meditating on our anxiety. We cultivate that quality of mindful relationship with it that allows it to learn how to heal itself. We can also help the anxiety heal by interacting with it. One of the most effective ways known for interacting with any kind of emotion, including anxiety and depression, is to interact with the imagery of that emotion.

So all emotions are based around imagery. It's how you see the emotion in the mind that really determines how strong that emotion is.

During our meditation on our anxiety we explore this imagery and then we explore changing the imagery. Because when you change that imagery you change the emotion.

So that's one of the methods that we can employ to help the anxiety learn how to change itself, by changing his imagery.

Online Therapist for Anxiety through Skype or FaceTime or Zoom

Welcome. If you'd like to see an online psychotherapist for anxiety, I invite you to go to my website and learn more about the online anxiety therapy service that I offer via Skype.

Many people prefer online therapy to the more conventional in person therapy because it's more convenient, obviously, and it also gives you a greater sense of control over your therapy process, over your recovery from emotional issues that you are dealing with.

Online Therapy is specifically designed to teach you new tools to work with your anxiety and also depression and other common psychological problems. It's designed to teach you how to change the relationship that you have with your anxiety.

The biggest problem that I've come across in my work as a psychotherapist is that people fall into the trap of what is called "reactive identification," that is that they become consumed and overwhelmed by their anxiety or other intense emotions that get triggered.

So anxiety is basically a habit. It is a series of conditioned reactions, habitual conditioned reactions, that are triggered by certain events, with certain thoughts or situations that produce severe anxiety or panic attacks or other forms of anxiety disorders such as obsessive compulsive disorder.

Basically, the problem is that we become identified with these emotional reactions and their accompanying thoughts. And this is what we must train to reverse, by working with those thoughts and emotions.

I teach Mindfulness Therapy, which I have been teaching online for over ten years now, and I find that to be by far the most effective way for working with reactive emotions and thoughts. It teaches you how to establish a relationship with your emotions such that you are not overwhelmed by them that you do not become identified with them out of habit.

When you can establish a non-reactive relationship with your anxiety, then you can be much more effective in helping that anxiety heal and resolve itself. So Mindfulness Therapy is very good at doing this, in helping you overcome that habit of identifying with anxiety, and then promoting the right conditions for healing that anxiety.

Most people who I work with online can expect to see significant changes after just three or four sessions with me. The Mindfulness Therapy approach is extremely effective, and I invite you to see for yourself.

So please if you are interested in seeing a psychotherapist online and you would like to try working with an online therapist for help with your anxiety using Mindfulness Therapy, then please go to my website and email me and we can schedule a therapy session via Skype at a time that works for you and for me.

We don't want to just put up with it. We don't want to indulge it. We want to heal it and there's no better method than learning how to meditate on your anxiety. So I'll teach you how to do that during these online therapy sessions.

Anxiety attack treatment without depending on medication

Welcome! My name is Peter Strong. I'm a professional psychotherapist based in Colorado and I offer online therapy for anxiety via Skype. People like the convenience of online therapy, and it is generally a very much more comfortable and less clinical way of approaching anxiety and learning how to manage anxiety and overcome anxiety.

The focus of the approach that I take, which is called Mindfulness Therapy, is about giving you the tools to manage and overcome your anxiety. This is not a treatment-based approach. Treatments are not good for working with anxiety or depression.

Medications are a form of treatment and I do not recommend them either because they do not empower you. They do not give you the tools to overcome the root cause of your anxiety or depression.

You have to look at the underlying psychological cause which consists of reactive habits such as habitual reactive thinking. That's one of the primary causes of our anxiety and depression. We become blindly identified with reactive thoughts and beliefs that end up feeding our anxiety and depression.

So overcoming reactivity is central, and medications or treatment-based approaches are not going to do that. You have to do that yourself by developing more conscious awareness of these underlying habitual processes, and that is the focus of Mindfulness Therapy.

So I offer therapy by Skype and it is really important that you use Skype or a similar video format. You need to be able to see each other, but if you can't see each other, then Skype therapy is just as effective as meeting a therapist in person.

You don't need to be in the same room as the therapist, but you do need to see each other for effective psychotherapy.

If you would like to learn more about online therapy for anxiety using Skype, then do please contact me and ask any questions that you may have. Tell me what you have tried so far. Tell me more about your particular anxiety disorder. And I am happy to answer any questions you have.

The mindfulness approach is very, very effective if you are interested in healing your anxiety. If you're interested in really changing things at the deep level, the core level rather than just treating symptoms.

One of the most important first principles that you'll be learning is how to break free from reactive identification. This is the root cause of the problem. It's more important than thoughts or beliefs or memories or the emotional reactions themselves.

The real issue is that we become blindly identified with thoughts and beliefs, emotional reactions and and so on. We become identified, we become blindly attached to these objects in the mind, basically, which is how we describe thoughts and emotions and memories. They are objects that arise in the mind due to certain conditions that trigger them. They exist in the mind for a while and then they usually pass through. But when we become reactive, that stops them healing. It stops the emotions from resolving themselves.

As objects they have no power at all to cause your anxiety. It's only when you identify with those thoughts and emotions that they then gain power and cause you to suffer.

So developing independence or objectivity or objective consciousness is central. And we do this by learning how to meditate on our mind.

So mindfulness meditation, which is what I teach and is the core methodology for healing anxiety and depression involves meditating on those emotions and building this different relationship where you are the observer, instead of just becoming overwhelmed and lost in the stream of reactive thinking and rumination.

So developing that objective relationship to your thoughts and emotions is is vital. It is an absolute step that's required for healing. And it takes training. And the way we train is by meditating on the mind.

Meditation is not an escape from the mind. It's a way of changing your relationship to the mind so that you are not controlled by thoughts and emotions and beliefs and memories and so on.

So that is the first step. We call this the liberating effect of mindfulness. You learn how to meditate on your thoughts and emotions to achieve freedom, then the healing really starts to accelerate once that relationship is well established.
