Philip Hobbs

Philip John Hobbs was born at Bridgwater on July 26, 1955. and rode his first winner on Redders Boy at Wincanton on April 15, 1974.

The elder brother of Peter Hobbs, he started out as an amateur and went on to ride a total of 160 winners.

His two biggest wins came in the 1977 Black & White Whisky Gold Cup on Artifice and the 1985 Midlands Grand National on Northern Bay.

He became a trainer.
