Article by Alan Trout
Jason Ivor Halls had four wins over hurdles in the early 1990s, all of them at Lingfield Park. He was a conditional jockey with Epsom trainer Brooke Sanders and it was she who supplied his first winner when Miami In Spring overcame a mistake at the last flight and came home 15 lengths clear in the Brandy Butter Conditional Jockeys’ Handicap Hurdle at Lingfield Park on December 22, 1990.

Just seven days later, the partnership returned to the course and followed up in the Blackwood Novices’ Hurdle, scoring by three and a half lengths. The six-year-old did not run again for over a year, but Jason kept the ride, although finishing last of three and then being unseated was the disappointing outcome.
